Financial Encouragement and Update

Dear Church Family,

As you know, this past summer we received donations of approximately $700,000 to pay off our educational building. These gifts were a major blessing, and the whole church rejoiced at God’s goodness. Additionally, during the last year, our offerings have been averaging around $14,000 a week. This additional giving also helped to put our finances in the black and pay off the building debt. Since we have paid off the building, however, our weekly giving has averaged around $11,600 a week. That’s around a $10,000 difference in our monthly giving. Though we are still well in the black within our budget, we wanted to send out a letter of encouragement.

First, though our building is paid off, and we are debt free, that does not mean the ministry is done.  We have not finished the gospel work here at Cedar Heights. We still have much work to do. Now that the building is paid off, we can focus on various other ministries and kingdom work. So, we first want to encourage you to continue tithing as the Lord leads.

Second, over the last 15 years, the financial pressure of our building payment has forced us to neglect some much needed repairs, upkeep, and renovations to our present infrastructure. Given that need, last Sunday, the Stewardship Committee voted to cap our general fund at $50,000. Any time the general fund goes over that amount, the additional money will be moved into a capital improvement fund. This fund will help pay for much needed campus improvements and repairs. Thus, your giving will help us improve what we have had to put off from quite some time.

Essentially, we send this letter as a reminder: We still have work to do! Thus, we ask that you prayerfully consider how God wants you to continue giving to the gospel work being done at Cedar Heights Baptist Church.
