Why We Exist

Cedar Heights Student Ministry exists to develop students that have an unabashed, unceasing, all-encompassing pursuit of Christ. Our ministry facilitates this development through biblical teaching, dynamic worship, and meaningful service opportunities.

Our first desire is for students to fall in love with Jesus. In order to fuel growth in our students’ relationship with Jesus, we spend time studying the Word of God in our Ministry Groups (Sunday School) and our Wednesday night meetings. We also encourage students to connect with God through worship and prayer both corporately and individually. Outside our normal weekly activities, we attend worship rallies, disciple now weekend retreats, summer camps and Christian concerts to challenge our students to grow as they connect with other Christians and step out of their comfort zone.

Our second desire is for students to fall in love with His bride—the church. We want to see students demonstrate an active love for the church, so students will not abandon the church when they graduate high school. One way to encourage this love for the church is to create opportunities for students to serve their church beyond the typical physical labor no one else wants to do. In addition, this practice of humble service will perhaps change the consumer mentality of church back to one of giving rather than receiving.

Our third desire is for students to love the nations. Christ’s call was to take the Gospel to the nations. We want our students to be so in love with Jesus and His church that they are willing to give anything and/or everything to share that love with the nations. God transforms each of us into the image of His Son so we can be a blessing to the whole world by bringing His truth to them. We make it a point to serve the people of our community, our state, and our nation through short term missions trips around the nation.

Get Involved

Ministry Groups

Every Sunday morning at 9:30 our Ministry Groups (Sunday School) meet to discuss biblical topics and how they relate to today's teenager. It is a time to connect to God as well as students your own age.

Youth Praise Band

Our students are putting their musical talents to work for God in our praise band. The Youth Praise Band leads worship during the Wednesday Night Youth Meeting.

Proclaimers Youth Choir

The Proclaimers is our student choir. We include 7th – 12th graders in this group. The Proclaimers rehearse weekly during the school year. Each Spring we attend PraizFest, a worship festival for students. Every summer we attend PraiseWorks, a worship arts camp, as well as going on a choir/mission trip. By being a part of The Proclaimers, our students have experiences and opportunities in worship that stretch them as Christian worshipers and prepare them for a future of life and service in the church. It is a lot of fun too!

Wednesday Night Youth Meeting

Wednesday night is the night for CHBC Students to connect with their friends as they learn about God. We start the night with music and games. Each week Chad makes the connection between the problems of today's teens and how the Bible addresses those issues.
